HIT-A-THON FUNDRAISER
Saturday, May 15, 2010

Every year, the league holds a fundraiser, to help defray the cost of running the league. Uniforms, new equipment, umpire fees, league fees, and other operating expenses can add up fast. To help keep the registration cost at $75.00 per child, it is extremely important that we continue with this fundraiser (many other leagues are now charging more than $100!). In recent years we also added a new safety fence cap at Thayer Field, poured concrete floors for the dugouts, and purchased much needed field maintenance equipment with Hit-A-Thon proceeds. Our next goal is to have a permanent concession stand and field lighting at Thayer Field. We have tried different fundraisers, from selling candy bars, to holding “Tag Days”.  The Hit-A-Thon is designed to raise money for the league, while providing a chance for the players to get out to the field and have some fun trying to win the prizes!

As the date draws nearer, you will receive several communications from the league about this event.

We ask each and every parent to make an effort to help out: Donate prizes yourself; ask business relations to donate prizes; and assist players – especially younger ones – with completing their pledge sheets.  Don’t wait.  Get started today.  We very much appreciate your assistance.

The format is this:

  1. Your player will be given a “Pledge Sheet”
  2. He/she can ask friends, relatives, neighbors, etc. to sponsor him/her, by putting their name on the Pledge Sheet and pledging any amount they feel comfortable with.  (Checks can be made out to “Lancaster Little League”.)
  3. Your player will collect any money pledged, and bring the pledge sheet and money with him/her to the “Hit-A-Thon.” (Date is Saturday, May 15, time TBA)
  4. Your player will then be given 10 swings with the bat, with the chance to win a variety of prizes. Every participant will leave with something!
  5. Friends and family are invited to come out to Mill Street Field to cheer their player(s) on.
  6. We anticipate everyone’s participation, and expect that every player can raise at least $25.00.

Your anticipated cooperation is greatly appreciated, and we look forward to 100% player participation.

If you have any questions, please contact Steve Mudgett (
) or Matt Zeh ( ).

Thank you,
Lancaster Little League Board of Directors
